The Story introduction
Set against the backdrop of the Canadian Pacific Railway's construction in the 1880s, the story chronicles the love and survival of Richard and Eleonora Dawson, told through their 24 letters to one another. In a final act of courage driven by his love for his wife, Richard exposes the corruption, earning a substantial reward which he sends home just in time to save their farm.
